Cavity Exams

A cavity exam helps identify tooth decay and gives you a clear next step. We look at your child’s teeth, ask about symptoms, and explain what we find in simple language. If treatment is needed, we’ll discuss the options and help you understand what to expect before your child’s visit.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

When a cavity needs repair, a tooth-colored filling may be an option. The dentist removes the decayed portion of the tooth and fills the space with restorative material. We explain the process at your child’s pace and share ways to help them feel prepared. Treatment depends on the tooth and the extent of decay.

Dental Crowns

Some teeth need more coverage than a filling can provide. A dental crown covers and protects the affected tooth, including a baby tooth that still has a role in chewing and holding space. The dentist will assess your child’s tooth and explain whether a crown is appropriate, along with the steps involved.

Pulp Treatment

If decay or injury affects the soft tissue inside a baby tooth, pulp treatment may be considered. The goal is to address the affected tissue and help preserve the tooth when possible. Your child’s dentist will review the exam findings, explain suitable options, and answer your questions before recommending a treatment plan.

Tooth Extractions

An extraction may be recommended when a tooth is too damaged to restore or poses another concern. The dentist will explain why removal is being considered and what your child may experience during the visit. You’ll also receive guidance on caring for the area afterward and any follow-up your child may need.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, sometimes called laughing gas, may help some children feel calmer during a dental procedure. The dentist will review your child’s health and needs to determine whether it may be suitable. We’ll explain how it is used and answer your questions. It is not right for every child or every treatment.
